THE AREA
A genuine side of Paris well worth discovering....
Few metro stations away from the historic center of Paris and
Latin quarter. The district has kept its charm and authenticity
since it originated. Steps away from Place d'Alligre, a covered
market place full of life and where value can be found. A
village atmosphere where everyone is friendly and knows their
neighbor. Place where "fanfare" and various bands are creating a
warm and fun ambiance. Baron Rouge is near by to have a snack
and a glass of wine. Many restaurants for every budget. All the
typical shops where one can buy bread and cheeses. It is a
chance to look back at classic French life where living a
relaxed and content life is appreciated.
Located at short walking distance, the Viaduc des Arts
hosts... the delicately crafted and imaginative creations of
about 50 artists working in a variety of materials, from
wood, glass, terracotta and fabric to copper, iron and
leather. Built in 1859 to carry a train line, the
arches of the Viaduc des Arts were refurbished in 1990 and
opened in 1994 to host a myriad of art galleries and craft
boutiques where exhibitions and events are also held from
time to time.
Also close to Place de La Bastille where trendy bars are located.
Near the famous rue du Faubourg St Antoine where custom
furniture shops are located.
